Lombardi Pet Party

The 3rd Annual Pet Fest 2010 is on Sunday November 14th from 11am until 4pm in Lafreniere Park. The theme this year is "Lombardi Pet Party", where our pets can celebrate the Saints World Champion season. Pet Fest is jointly produced by the non-profit Friends of the Jefferson Animal Shelter, the Jefferson Parish Animal Shelter and Jefferson Parish.

Pet Fest is promoted as the "party where pets bring their people" including "everything pet". Areas within Pet Fest will include the "Pet Health Watch area where 20 area Veterinarians will have booths, the latest in Pet Products in the "Pet Marketplace", the AKC Ultimate Pet Experience will offer Canine Demonstrations, we will have a Food Court and Live Music.

One major focus is on Pet Adoptions featuring pets for adoption from the Jefferson Parish Animal Shelter and 30 Shelter/Rescue groups from as far away as Mississippi. Great Dane Rescue, Golden Retriever Rescue, Doberman Rescue, LA/SPCA, Plaquemines, Waveland, South Mississippi Humane Society and many more will have pets available for adoption. Last year 80 pets found forever homes at Pet Fest.

The Jefferson SPCA will be promoting their "Adopt Jefferson" Campaign reminding everyone to think adoption when considering adding a Pet to their family, the Jefferson SPCA C.A.R.E Program (Companion Animal Retention Effort) offering resources to keep their pets with their families and the "Spay Jefferson" Program to offer vouchers for low cost spay neuter.
