Lundi Gras in Kenner's Rivertown

The kings and queens of two major Carnival organizations will be in Kenner’s Rivertown to toast each other and greet the people of Kenner as part of the annual day-long Lundi Gras celebration on the eve of Mardi Gras, 2010.
The event starts at 10 a.m. in the 400 block of Williams Boulevard in front of the Kenner Exhibition Center with a performance by the popular rock band The Topcats starting at 11 a.m.
At noon will be the arrival of the king and queen of the Zulu Social Aid and Pleasure Club and the king and queen of the Krewe of Argus. Kenner Mayor Ed Muniz will issue a welcome to the Carnival royalty and they will take part in traditional champagne toasts before the assembled crowd.
Both Carnival clubs parade in front of large crowds on Mardi Gras, Zulu in New Orleans and Argus in Metairie. The Zulu king is Mr. Jimmie L.Felder and his queen is his daughter, Liana Felder-Jefferson. Mr. David Robert Sherman is the king of the Krewe of Argus. His queen is Meredith Elizabeth Chehardy.
In addition to the toasting, presentation of proclamations, and entertainmentthe Kenner includes crafts, food and drink are available at a modest cost. After the presentations, music from the Topcats will continue until 3 p.m. The entertainment is free.
