The Friends of the Jefferson Animal Shelter, the Jefferson Parish Animal Shelter and Jefferson Parish will hold the 2nd Annual Pet Fest. The event is “a Party where Pets bring their People” for a day of Pet Adoptions, Information & Education on Pet related topics, games & activities for Pets ( and their people), Delicious Food, Live Entertainment and Fun.

The Pet Fest 2009 theme is “Pet Rally” and “Tail Gate Party” where our pets can show their support for our local sports teams. We will have a “Pet Team Spirit Costume Contest”, a “Pet/Owner Team Spirit” look-a-like contest and a Pet Second Line parade.

Pets from 30 different Rescue Groups and 5 Animal Shelters will have hundreds of Pets (Dogs & Cats) available for adoption, 20 AKC Show Groups will offer demonstrations and interactive pet games.

The Friends of the Jefferson Animal Shelter is an all-volunteer (501)(c)(3) nonprofit organization and public charity. Our mission is to assist the Jefferson Parish Animal Shelter to reduce euthanasia rates by providing the following programs, including but not limited to: home fostering, behavioral training and socialization, offsite pet adoptions, adoption and follow-up counseling, and spay/neuter assistance.
