Ceremonies Set for Grand Isle
Sign Unveiling and Fire Station Ground-Breaking
Jefferson Parish Officials will hold a sign unveiling ceremony on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at 10:15 a.m. on the south side of Highway 1 at the Jefferson/Lafourche Parish Line.
The 14’ H x 28’ W sign was designed by Greg Cantrell, Inc. to be pleasant and inviting to all visitors to Grand Isle.
Jefferson Parish Officials will also break ground for construction of the new Grand Isle Fire Station at 1 p.m. The ceremony will take place at 100 Chighizola Lane in Grand Isle. Lincoln Builders of Baton Rouge will perform the work at an estimated cost of $2,767,000. The fire station will replace the one destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.
The project will take 18 to 20 months to complete barring any unforeseen contractor delays and weather permitting. For more information, please contact Deano Bonano, Jefferson Parish Chief of Homeland Security at 736-6435.
