Harahan Pump to the River

Pump Station Project to Begin Construction

Jefferson Parish officials and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will hold a ceremony to break ground for the Harahan Pump to the River Pump Station on Monday, October 31, at 2pm. The location of the groundbreaking will be at the intersection of Hickory Avenue and Mounes Street in Harahan.

"I am elated for those citizens in my district who will benefit from this important project. It is great news for the people of River Ridge, Harahan and the Elmwood area. It will greatly improve the drainage in this area during storm events," said District 2 Councilman Elton Lagasse.

This project includes the design and construction of a 1,200 cfs pumping station to pump storm water from the Soniat Canal to the Mississippi River.

The pump station will include a safe room within the station to allow the station to be manned during hurricane events.
