| Jefferson Parish Recognizes Dedicated Adopt-a-Parkway Sponsor |

Mrs. Elaine Bankston Recognized The recipient of the 2008 Jefferson Parish Adopt-a-Parkway Sponsor recognition award is Mrs. Elaine Bankston of River Ridge Ace Hardware. Mrs. Bankston will be recognized at the Parish Council meeting on Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at 9:30 a.m. in the Joseph S. Yenni Building, 1221 Elmwood Park Boulevard in Jefferson. The recognition award is given to a sponsor that generously donates time and money to beautify a parkway in Jefferson Parish. Since 1989, Mrs. Bankston has maintained the area in front of her business, River Ridge Ace Hardware at 8935 Jefferson Highway in River Ridge. The area under her care is well maintained and planted with fresh colorful annuals. To recognize her efforts, a bronze statue of a "gardening girl” will be installed at this location. The Jefferson Parish Adopt-a-Parkway Program offers a business or individual the opportunity to be involved in a community-based program that enhances his or her own neighborhood.
