Jefferson Receives Grant for Drainage Project |

Area's Drainage will Improve Significantly
The Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP) has awarded $3,164,202 in Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) funds to Jefferson Parish for the Midway Drainage Project located in River Ridge, LA.
This project involves implementing subsurface drainage improvements to Charlotte, Marsha and Wildwood Drives, between Midway Drive and Garden Road in River Ridge. The mitigation activity will reduce the potential for house flooding in the area. Design of the project will get under way in the near future with construction starting in late 2010 and completion by fall of 2011. Meanwhile, there is a drainage lift station under construction at the end of Midway Drive and Soniat Canal. Once this station is on-line by the end of January, it will provide immediate drainage relief; and, with completion of subsurface drainage improvements along Midway and side streets in 2011, the area’s drainage will be improved significantly.
